Almost £1,800 was raised at the Cheshire Day Nursery Group Winter Markets, which
were held at The Old Church in Winwick and attended by more than 200 people.
Guests enjoyed ‘Rudolph’ hot chocolate, warm turkey barm cakes and a host of
attractions at the festive-themed stalls – including a visit from Father Christmas.
The magical event was organised by Area Deputy Manager Kelle Rowe and Quality
Support Manager Lesley Davies, as well as the Group’s Deputy Managers.
“We were delighted to open our doors to the public on Saturday, 1 December and
offer a Winter Markets experience designed with families and young children in
mind,” said Kelle.
“The city centre markets can often feel crowded and hectic, so we wanted to create a
relaxing environment with plenty of age-appropriate activities to keep little ones
‘I am so proud of our team, who delivered a fantastic event – showcasing what our
‘Outstanding’ Group has to offer in terms of local childcare provision.”
Each nursery in the Group planned its own stalls, which included everything from
‘Hook a Bauble’ to ‘Guess the Elf’. Children had their photo taken inside a giant
inflatable snow globe; visited Father Christmas in his Kindergarten Grotto; enjoyed
Forest School activities led by Felicity Mannering; and had their faces painted.
Guardian Street Nursery’s Senior Kindergarten Practitioner Megan Goodwin led and
closed a carol service in which five children from each nursery sang to guests.
'Our children used their crafting skills to make canvasses, Christmas tree
decorations and reindeer dust for the markets,” added Kelle. Everyone contributed
in their own way – including local businesses and parents, who donated raffle
The café proved particularly popular – offering sandwiches, mulled wine, mince pies
and other festive-themed snacks.
A total of £1,793 was raised, which will be used for charitable causes and to
purchase nursery equipment.
Latchford Baby Room Manager Leanne Kearsley also had her head fully shaved –
raising a further £1,000 to support a parent requiring specialist treatment.
“We would like to thank everyone who joined us for the Winter Markets,” said Co-
Founder Julie Mannering, who attended on the day.
“Cheshire Day Nursery Group is one of the leading Early Years Care Providers in the

as to introduce new parents to our dedicated practitioners and managers.

Christmas and a Happy New Year!”
