Celebrating 18 years of The Cheshire Day Nursery Group
The Cheshire Day Nursery Group has celebrated coming of age with a glittering reception – honouring 18 years of Early Years Childcare Provision!
Brenda Burling and Julie Mannering – the Group’s Co-Founders and Directors – welcomed staff to the party on Saturday, 17 November at the Hallmark Hotel in Grappenhall, as well as people who have worked and supported the business for nearly two decades. The sisters were also joined by their family, partners, children and closest friends.
“It was a fabulous evening that marked an incredible milestone for the Group, which is now one of the leading providers in the North West of England,” said Quality Support Manager Lesley Davies.
“Brenda and Julie gave a wonderful speech, which included a rap to the tune of ‘Mambo No.5’!
Special gifts were presented to Early Years Consultant Teacher Elizabeth Stevenson, Latchford Nursery Manager Kelda Williams and Area Deputy Manager Kelle Rowe, who are have been with us right from the start.
Entertainment was provided by Pete Pinnington Presents and enjoyed by guests – including the dance, yoga, language and sports tutors who visit the nursery settings each week, as well as the Group’s accountant and solicitor.
A Registered Nurse and Midwife, and an NVQ3-qualified Caring for Children practitioner and childminder respectively, Brenda and Julie set up their very first day nursery in Latchford nearly two decades ago, where they personally delivered frontline care in the Baby Room.
Whilst managing the nursery, they recruited new staff and delivered training – growing an award-winning childcare empire, The Cheshire Day Nursery Group. They were able to add a Kindergarten at Latchford in 2007 and to open new nurseries on Guardian Street in 2010 and at Winwick and Thelwall in 2015.
Recent accolades include a High Commendation in the ‘Nursery Group of the Year’ category at the national Nursery World Awards (2017), as well as finalist placings in the ‘Nursery Manager of the Year’ and ‘Enabling Environment’ categories.
The Cheshire Day Nursery and Kindergarten on Grammar School Road was one of only three settings shortlisted in the ‘Nursery of the Year’ category for the North of England at the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) Awards 2017.
Speaking on the night, Brenda said: “Julie and I are proud of what we have achieved as sisters, Co-Founders and Directors of the Group, but we would also like to acknowledge the great team we have around us. Many of them have worked with us for several years and it has been our pleasure to support their personal and professional development within our settings.”
Julie added: “We were one of the first providers nationally to embrace Forest School Education and we are continuing to innovate with the launch of our new Apprentice Training School. As we look forward to 2019 and beyond, our focus remains on delivering an Outstanding-rated learning and play provision to the children of Warrington and their families.”
